The world leader in non-invasive bladder analysis

This year thousands of men over 50 years old who suffer from Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) will seek help from their urologist. Trans-urethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) is common. This procedure is not without risk and up to 30% of patients see no change in symptoms following the operation. The CT3000 is designed to help identify those patients that have good bladder pressure, yet suffer from Bladder Outlet Obstruction (BOO). This group of patients are known to demonstrate improvement following TURP.

The cuff test is intended as an adjunct to a standard flow study. While it is not a replacement for conventional urodynamics, which remains the gold standard, the cuff test does provide useful information on male bladder contraction pressure.

Improving outcome prediction – the world leader in non-invasive bladder analysis

Treatment options for men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic enlargement have increased over the last 20 years. Surgical removal of tissue typically by transurethral resection (TURP) remains most effective. Men with bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) defined by invasive pressure flow studies (PFS) have success rates following TURP that are 15–29% higher than those without PFS. Invasive PFS are not commonly performed because of patient discomfort, infection risk, and cost associated with the need for skilled staff and specialised equipment. Most United Kingdom urologists therefore suggest surgery on the basis of bothersome LUTS that is unresponsive to drug therapy and associated with reduced urinary flow. 65–75% of men achieve satisfactory symptomatic benefit following surgery. The CT3000 improves outcome prediction for men considering surgery to 87%.
