Mediplus Launch the worlds first non-invasive method of measuring bladder pressure in men.
21st March 2005

Mediplus Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer of disposable urodynamic catheters, has launched the world’s first product to measure bladder pressure in men non-invasively – The CT3000.

Thousands of men over 50 years of age who suffer from Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) will seek help from their urologist. Trans-urethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) is common. This procedure is not without risk and up to 30% of patients see little or no change in symptoms following the operation. The CT3000 is designed to help identify those patients that have good bladder pressure, yet suffer from Bladder Outlet Obstruction (BOO).

The cuff test is intended as an adjunct to a conventional flow study and is not seen as a replacement for conventional urodynamics which remains the gold standard. What it does do is provide a quick, easy and cost effective method of identifying those patients with BOO.

With numerous papers publications from The Freeman Hospital, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, and Bristol Urology Institute, proving the clinical efficacy of the test. With 30-35,000 TURP’s procedures taking place every year in the UK, the potential cost saving and improved patient morbidity is significant and Mediplus is confident that the CT3000 will rapidly be deployed within the health service
